A responsible technician treats a thermal scan as a map of where to check, then confirms with a penetrating or non-penetrating moisture meter before calling an area wet or dry. Relying on thermal imaging by itself, without that follow-up reading, is how both false alarms and missed damage happen.

After a slab leak repair, before drywall or flooring goes back down, a technician scans the surrounding walls with a thermal camera to check whether moisture spread further than the visible repair area. Any cool zones get a direct moisture meter reading.
